I hear someone say that online poker is rigged. LOL! There is no basis for that at all...and no proof of it whatsoever. You want to say it is rigged? Prove it with hand histories etc.. not blind accusations. Why would a poker site rig anything? They have no vested interest in who wins ANY given pot or tourney. They make money by hosting the games. Why would they do ANYTHING that would destroy their business? My advice to ANYONE who thinks online poker is rigged in any way... DON'T PLAY! If you think it is rigged and play anyway....play money or real money... who is the fool?
    Welcome to the forum!!!

FYI - Online poker is rigged. Well, it is for me in tournaments! Though i fully believe PokerStars pro's get a decent edge. Ill fidn the hand history for you. Youll be on my side bro!

Even if some or all poker sites are "rigged" for action, you have to remember that it's not really an advantage or disadvantage because it is done so constantly. I don't think there is a poker elf sitting around scratching his head wondering if he should throttle up the "more action flops" button on a day-by-day basis.

I'm not saying that's acceptable if it's happening (and I lean towards believing that it is based on my own experiences), but I'm still comfortable playing online at reasonable stakes because I don't believe anyone can use the "rigged" system to their advantage (bots that have been busted over the years are a whole different story). I've been playing since they first started offering it online and over the years I haven't been able to modify my game to accommodate for the "mega action" system that seems to be in place, and if I can't do it with all the poker I've played, I don't believe anyone else can (or at least the vast majority).

I often wonder what poker will be like when it's officially regulated, but the fact of the matter is, most of the big US companies are in talks or have already partnered up with existing software companies, which means we'll see a whole lot of the exact same thing. Hopefully we'll have some mathematical geniuses who are poker players themselves auditing the software in an official capacity once regulation is in place.

I've tried and failed miserably to play profitable poker online over the years, but I still get some enjoyment value out of it, so I'm content with that for now, at least until we have regulated options.

I think what it all boils down to is self-discipline. I mean, I can sit in a live game and happily play my one hand every hour or even every two, but it's extremely difficult for me to exercise that same kind of control when playing online. But then again, online poker is a whole different breed of poker and it's not meant to be played (nor are the "norms" supposed to be the same) as live poker.

IDK. Personally, I don't think the sites are rigged. I don't see the incentive. Casinos? Yes. Poker rooms? Why? They make a few cents of every hand but when they deal a BILLION hands they're doing ok. And if someone proved that the cards weren't random that would all go away. Not worth it.

I know that PEOPLE cheat. I could easily see a table with everyone sharing hands on cell phones except for the mark. And maybe I'm just being naive, but I think the rooms themselves are on the up and up.

And Eejit, RE your hand with Moneymaker, it's only natural to think something's up there but how many times has that exact same thing happened in a live game? Thousands. I know I'll never forget when I had pocket aces with an ace and 2 kings on the board and the guy next to me had pocket kings. That was a live game and about a $300 pot in a $20 game. Lol. Stuff occurs. That's poker.

I think what you guys need to focus on is how to stop me from winning every Amazon card that comes across the table.

This should be big fun. I'm looking forward to it.

If I played just 1 hand against God, I would get KK and he would get AA with a AK7 flop.

Around here, I'd welcome that scenario, and I'd pocket quite a bit of money from the bad beat jackpot in the process.

here bad beat is quads over quads/S-flush, or S-flush over S-flush

it would be easy to rig a system to work out mathematicly w the odds, but to maximize profit in rake by keeping the money on the site as much as possible... and there would be no way to prove it... saying the sites dont want to make more and more money, is like saying peyton manning makes 20 mil a yr, why would he risk looking bad to leave the team and go to the cowboys for 25 mil a year

Stars in my view my be the exception, im sure when they first started out they were in it to maximize profit and might have done some things to the software etc...

but I think once they were so successful, making millions on millions, and pretty much became the namesake of the buisness and they might have seen a long term future and decided that longterm viability was much more profitable for them then maximizing quarterly profit...

I cant attest to the pros having an advantage, but it wouldnt shock me...

I stopped playing online cash games, as to me this would be where u would most likely get screwed from some kind of "heater recognize and level out program" I only play tournaments now, since its a set buy-in and u would figure the site would have no interest in who wins... unless of course they give advantage to pros, site bots, or people whos pattern suggest they will keep the $ on the site and play with it opposed to withdrawing it.

Thanks to those who showed up today.

Unfortunately we had a ton of people sitting out and it screwed up the game, but I'll try to curb that from now on.

For all future games, if you register and sit out, I will remove you from the poker club.

Please only register if you plan to play.

    There's nothing to think about.

If you're going to play; register.

If you're not going to play; don't.

The solution is have registration only 2 hours before game

If you register for something, it's your responsibility to show up for it.

I better go and unregister then for Sunday and Tuesday. I am going out of town Saturday and might not make it back in time.
I can also think of a 1000 other reasons now I shouldn't register more than 20 minutes before game now on.

Hey Boss, I understand your position but I want you to consider mine. I fully intended to play but I knew I'd be WORKING a little later than usual. So I registered, thinking I would just post and fold a few if I was late. I ended up having to work even a little later than expected and, like Cat said, we blinded out very quickly. So I missed it. I was one of the *** holes.
I'm sorry. Really. I am. But I'm self employed and work has to take priority. Wouldn't you agree? And do you really want to kick me out for that?

I won't register again if there's even A CHANCE I might not be in my seat at game time. If that's what you want. But it seems a little ridiculous to me. After all, it's just a game. And I know the game's are small but is late registration an option? Just in case I'm 2 minutes late?

I can tell you're pissed and now so am I. I don't want to be called irresponsible because I had to work late. These are supposed to be fun. And they are. So what do you say? Virtual bro hug and we BOTH relax a little bit?
