If you accidentally deleted or somehow lost your WhatsApp chat history, you can restore it. WhatsApp automatically stores your chats from the last seven days, creating a backup every night at 2am and saving that to your phone itself. It's also possible to set up your phone to back your chats up to the cloud. If you just need to restore deleted chats from your most recent backup and you already had your information backed up to the cloud, uninstalling and reinstalling the app is the easiest way. However, since your device stores seven day's worth of nightly backups, it's also possible to go back to a specific day during the last week, using those backup files.

WhatsApp is a popular messaging application used around the world. It sends messages over the internet, so they don’t count against your texting cap, which is handy if you’re not on an unlimited plan.

It also enables you to make phone and video calls, which means you could skip having a phone plan altogether if all your contacts use WhatsApp. You can share files up to 100MB with other contacts on WhatsApp, too, making it a versatile communication app.

The app has end-to-end encryption, which sounds good, but it is owned by Facebook, and we all know how much that company likes to meddle with your personal data. If you’re looking for more secure alternatives, check out our article on encrypting text messages.

You’ll see a button that says, “back up.” Clicking on it will backup your messages. WhatsApp will try to save your backups to your SD card first if you have one. If you don’t, it will save messages to your hard drive. WhatsApp will automatically create backups at 2 a.m. every day.

The whole backup thing only takes you one click. Once your device is connected and detected, the program will automatically back up data on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. The new backup file won't overwrite the old one. You can do backup whenever you want. As to the backup files, you can choose to keep them all or delete any of them that you don't have a need. Moreover, you can preview and export any items from the backup file on your computer, and save them as HTML, CSV or vCard files.iTunes/iCloud are the official way to backup ios backup devices.
