View Full Version : Playoffs & Legal Sports Betting

Hi,

A couple of days ago the Supreme Court opened the door for legal sports betting. Even though Delaware had been one of the "grandfathered" states before the ruling, the state of Delaware ran into a few hurdles a decade or so ago when it tried to legalize wide-open sports betting (which by my understanding is why we ended up with parlays and teasers for NFL games).
I heard an interview with Ed Sutor on NPR the other night where he said that Dover Downs is going full speed ahead with wide-open sports betting and gamblers will be able to place bets of all shapes and sizes on all leages within 30 days.
My question is- wasn't the NCAA trying to squash Delaware's efforts by vowing to bar post-season games in the state of Delaware if full scale gamlbing was implemented? And wasn't the threat of UD & Wesley losing the ability to hold home playoff football games a major reason why the state backed off? This all happened a decade ago, so I may be mis-remembering- but is this still a concern?

Any help will be apprecited.

I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
